Why 53% of Theory Test Candidates Fail

Over half of all theory test candidates fail on their first attempt. That means wasted money, delayed driving lessons, and months of extra waiting. Here's why:

Not enough practice questions

The DVSA question bank covers 14 different categories. Reading the Highway Code alone isn't enough — you need to practise answering questions under exam conditions to build confidence.

Memorising without understanding

Questions are designed to test understanding, not just recall. If you've memorised stopping distances but don't understand why they matter, trick questions will catch you out.

Ignoring weak topics

Many learners revise the topics they already know and skip the ones they find difficult. Without tracking which areas need work, gaps in knowledge go unnoticed until exam day.

Poor time management

With 57 minutes for 50 questions, spending too long on one question can mean rushing through the rest. Practising under timed conditions is essential.
